Terms of Service
Last updated: August 15, 2026 · Applies to the Resume Copilot Chrome extension and backend service
Plain-language summary (not a substitute for the full terms below): Resume Copilot is a
paid tool. Free match scoring, $0.99 per tailored bullets/cover letter or $8.99/month unlimited. Cancel
anytime. We're not liable for job outcomes or AI errors. Disputes go to individual arbitration, not
court or class action, with narrow exceptions.
1. Agreement to terms
By installing, accessing, or using Resume Copilot (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these
Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you don't agree, don't use the Service. We may update these Terms from
time to time; continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
2. What the Service does
Resume Copilot is a Chrome extension that reads job listings on pages you open, compares them against
a resume you provide, and uses a third-party AI model (Anthropic's Claude) to generate a match score,
suggested resume bullet rewrites, and cover letters. You are solely responsible for reviewing, editing,
and verifying the accuracy of any AI-generated content before using it in an actual job application.
3. Accounts
- You must provide a valid email address (or authenticate via Google) to create an account.
- You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
- You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, to use the Service.
- One account per person. You may not share credentials or resell access.
4. Fees and billing
- Match scoring is free and unlimited.
- Tailored bullets and cover letters cost $0.99 each (or a discounted 10-credit pack at $7.99), or are
unlimited with a $8.99/month subscription.
- Subscriptions renew automatically each month until canceled. You can cancel anytime from the
extension's Settings page — cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you
won't be charged again after that.
- Purchased credits are one-time payments, don't expire, and don't auto-renew.
- All payments are processed by Stripe. We don't store your card details.
- Refunds: Purchases are generally final. If you believe you were charged in error —
for example, a technical failure prevented you from receiving the credits or access you paid for —
contact us at the email below and we'll review it in good faith on a case-by-case basis.
- Prices may change with notice; changes apply to future billing periods, not charges already made.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to generate content that is fraudulent, defamatory, or that misrepresents your
qualifications in a way that constitutes fraud against an employer.
- Attempt to circumvent usage limits, reverse engineer the Service, or interfere with its normal operation.
- Use automated means (scripts, bots) to access the Service outside of normal extension use.
- Resell, sublicense, or provide access to the Service to third parties.
6. AI-generated content and your responsibility
Content generated by the Service — match scores, bullet rewrites, cover letters — is produced by an AI
model and may contain errors, inaccuracies, or content that doesn't reflect your actual experience. We do
not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or job-search outcomes of any AI-generated content. You are
solely responsible for reviewing and verifying anything before submitting it as part of a real job
application. Do not represent AI-generated claims about your experience as fact without verifying them
yourself.
7. Intellectual property
You retain all rights to your resume and any content you provide. By using the Service, you grant us a
limited license to process that content solely to provide the Service to you (see our
Privacy Policy for details on how it's handled). We retain all rights to the
Service itself, including its design, code, and branding.
8. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from the extension's Settings page.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in abuse, or attempt to circumvent
billing. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately; provisions of these Terms that
by their nature should survive (e.g., limitation of liability, arbitration) will survive.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED,
INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT
WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT IT WILL RESULT IN ANY PARTICULAR JOB
SEARCH OUTCOME.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RESUME COPILOT AND ITS OPERATOR WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY
INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR JOB
OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE
TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR
$100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER. Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion of certain warranties or
limitation of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.
11. Dispute resolution and arbitration
Please read this section carefully — it affects your legal rights.
- Agreement to arbitrate. You and Resume Copilot agree that any dispute, claim, or
controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved through binding
individual arbitration, rather than in court, except as set out below.
- Class action waiver. You and Resume Copilot agree that any arbitration or claim
will be conducted only on an individual basis and not as a class, consolidated, or representative
action. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims.
- Exceptions. Either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court instead
of arbitration if it qualifies. Either party may also seek injunctive relief in court for infringement
or misuse of intellectual property.
- Arbitration rules. Arbitration will be administered by the American Arbitration
Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. Arbitration will be conducted in [YOUR
COUNTY/STATE — fill in], or another mutually agreed location, or by phone/video/written submissions
where permitted by AAA rules.
- Opt-out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing the address
below within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, stating your name and that you opt out of
arbitration. If you opt out, disputes will be resolved in the courts described in Section 12 instead.
- Severability. If the class action waiver is found unenforceable for a particular
claim, that claim (and only that claim) will proceed in court rather than arbitration, and the rest of
this section remains in effect.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [YOUR STATE/COUNTRY — fill in], without regard to conflict of
law principles, except where the Federal Arbitration Act applies to Section 11. For any dispute not
subject to arbitration (including if you opt out), you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts
located in [YOUR COUNTY/STATE — fill in].
13. Changes to these Terms
We may modify these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "last
updated" date above and, where required, notify active users. Continued use after changes take effect
means you accept the revised Terms.
